Opera 5 for Mac Beta 1

Beta 1 of the web browser Opera 5 for Macintosh OS 7.5.3 through 9.1 is now available for download; among the changes since the earlier preview release is more useful reporting of XML errors. (29 May 2001)

BBEdit 6.1.2

Downloadable updaters are now available to bring v6.1.X of Bare Bones Software's BBEdit to version 6.1.2, which adds no XML-specific improvements but offers a host of other new features and fixes. (17 May 2001)

Troi Text Plug-in 2.1

Along with FileMaker 5.5 compatability, version 2.1 of this FileMaker plug-in adds an XML function that its developer describes as being able to "import information from XML data files and parse it into your FileMaker Pro database," "get the specified node out of an XML formatted field," "deal with nested nodes, returning all child nodes or just the child node you specify," and "retrieve the attributes of nodes." BBTidy 1.0b9

A new version of this BBEdit plug-in for checking and correcting XML and HTML markup is available for download from its developer. Per the Tidy for Mac OS site, this version's changes include updating for Carbon plug-ins in Mac OS X and a small interface tweak. (6 May 2001)
