Among the various fixes in the latest updater for this tool for developing data-driven websites are two XML-related ones. "The & character is now properly parsed in XML documents," and "[XML_Extract] and [XML_Transform] should now work properly with JRE 1.3 or with JRE 1.4 or higher."

FileMaker Pro 6.0v4
The v4 updater for FMP 6.0 offers (among other things) several XML-related improvements. "Import/Export XML operations involving remote XML/XSL data sources or files...are now completed with a single HTTP request"; "HTTP requests sent during an XML import can include passwords or other sensitive data. To prevent the potential exposure of this data, the progress dialog displayed during time-consuming XML import operations no longer displays the HTTP request URL"; and imported XML data now preserves carriage returns.

Pluggers XML Plugin for 4D
This plug-in for 4th Dimension (4D) uses a Ram-based XML parser to "create, open and save documents from and to disk files or blob variables"; "navigate through XML data using the Document Object Model"; "get and set values and attributes of nodes"; and "add, copy and delete nodes." It supports character encoding using the ISO8859-1, UTF8, and UTF16 standards.

Filespring Pipeline
Filespring Pipeline (FSP) is a tool for PHP post-processing of output from FileMaker Pro's Web Companion. Along with supporting reuse of CDML, "FSP will also look for and remove any reference to '-fmp_xml' if the $filter_xml config variable is set. This will effectively cripple any request that is trying to get XML data out of Filemaker. Such a request will still be forwarded on to WC, but without a valid format statement, WC will return an error." This addresses a widely discussed security issue.
