ZyGoDigital XML in QT Streaming Video
ZyGoDigital has announced software that inserts XML-tagged information into QuickTime streaming video: "The XML data is...used to overlay text on the streamed video displays...to annotate the videos with camera ID, location, ...and other pertinent data. Text color, placement, transparency, font and size can be modified dynamically as the video streams. Text can be input from a database or changed interactively via network connections to the broadcast server." This "use of XML also complies with evolving standards (XrML) for Data Rights Management (DRM)," offering a means of embedding "interactive text and DRM capabilities within QuickTime" streams.

An Apple Developer Connection article discusses the use of PHP under Mac OS X to work with the XML-based Simple Object Access Protocol, or SOAP, in connection with Web Services. Kallisys's Desktop Connection Library of software includes three applications for moving data from Newtons (remember those?) into XML documents. "NewtonScript DTD is an XML Document Type Definition to represent NewtonScript data in XML"; "NSOF To XML Converter is a MacOS 8 and a MacOS X application to convert data from NSOF to XML"; and "Notes XSL is an XML StyleSheet with XPath to convert Newton notes (for example sent with SimpleMail and EnRoute) to XHTML."

ADC on JavaScript & XML in Mac Browsers
An article at the Apple Developer Connection on JavaScript support in web browsers for Mac OS X devotes a key section to current applications' ability to import data from an XML document and display it in an HTML page. The article itself is well worth reading, but in brief the finding in this one regard was that only Mozilla 1.2.1 currently is able to this, with Explorer 5.2, iCab Preview 2.8.2, OmniWeb 4.1, Opera 6.0, and Safari 1.0 beta (v60) all failing or falling short to various degrees.
